Poppy Seed Onion Pizza
Ingredients:
1 ball of pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
2 tablespoons Hasho Poppy Seed paste
2 tablespoons toasted Hasho Poppy Seeds
2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon sugar
A handful of shredded mozzarella cheese
A few sprigs of fresh thyme (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) — crank it up, New York style!
Caramelize the onions:
Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium heat.
Toss in the sliced onions with a pinch of salt and sugar.
Stir occasionally for about 20–25 minutes, until the onions turn golden, jammy, and smell like magic.
Roll out your pizza dough nice and thin — we're talking foldable, classic New York slice vibes.
Spread a generous layer of poppy seed paste over the dough.
Scatter the caramelized onions all over like you're throwing a ticker-tape parade.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese across the top, then hit it with a handful of toasted poppy seeds for extra pop.
Bake the pizza for 8–10 minutes, until the crust is puffed and golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Finish with a little cracked pepper and a few thyme leaves if you’re feeling fancy.
