Poppy Seed Onion Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 ball of pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 tablespoons Hasho Poppy Seed paste

  • 2 tablespoons toasted Hasho Poppy Seeds

  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon butter

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • A handful of shredded mozzarella cheese

  • A few sprigs of fresh thyme (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) — crank it up, New York style!

  2. Caramelize the onions:

    • Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium heat.

    • Toss in the sliced onions with a pinch of salt and sugar.

    • Stir occasionally for about 20–25 minutes, until the onions turn golden, jammy, and smell like magic.

  3. Roll out your pizza dough nice and thin — we're talking foldable, classic New York slice vibes.

  4. Spread a generous layer of poppy seed paste over the dough.

  5. Scatter the caramelized onions all over like you're throwing a ticker-tape parade.

  6. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese across the top, then hit it with a handful of toasted poppy seeds for extra pop.

  7. Bake the pizza for 8–10 minutes, until the crust is puffed and golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  8. Finish with a little cracked pepper and a few thyme leaves if you’re feeling fancy.
